The U.S.S. Vesuvius has a wide range of shuttlecraft mostly named after the produce of volcanic eruptions.  The four travel/work pods are named after famous volcanologists that studied Mount Vesuvius on Earth.  The Type IX shuttlecraft are named for the two famous cities at the foot of Mount Vesuvius that were buried in the first recorded cataclysmic eruption.
