Ambassador Class
First constructed as a front-line warship and
defensive platform designed to replace the Excelsior class ships, the Ambassador class
continues to serve as one of the best equipped and most durable design of its kind. With
larger lift capability and internal capacity to lengthen operating range, as well as
upgraded defense and weapons systems (including extra thick duranium plate armor) the
Ambassador class became a formidable battleship in Starfleet’s military arsenal and
serves as the backbone of the Federation’s defense even today. The design continues
to be refitted and updated as technology advances, facilitating its role in defending the
Federation against the now realized threat of both the Borg incursion and the Dominion.
Distinguished ships of the line include the U. S. S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C, U.S.S. Adelphi NCC-26849,
U.S.S. Ghandi NCC-26632, U.S.S. Horatio NCC-10532, U.S.S. Zhukov
NCC-26136 and the U.S.S. Excalibur.
