Biographical Sketch
Description:
Of average height and build with light brown hair, Helen blends into a crowd. Her overall appearance is neat, and "put-together". She often wears earth-tone themes that further enhance her abilities to escape notice. Never having been an observer of fashion, she prefers short fingernails and hiking boots to French manicures and pumps.
Background:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation recruited Helen McElroy shortly after her graduation from American University. Graduating at the top of her class, Helen thought she would end up working as a coroner/medical examiner. Helens father, an Army Brigadier General serving as the Director of the Enhancement and Interpretation Division of the Department of Satellite Imagery at Fort Belvoir, had different plans for his daughter. As supervisor of the intelligence-gathering activities associated with the keyhole satellite program, he was approached by a long-time associate recruiter to recommend likely candidates to the Bureau and saw at once an opportunity for his beloved girl. Although Helen had her doubts, she performed remarkably well during the training process and realized she had found the career that would save her from a lifetime of academic pursuits and dusty university libraries.
Her peers consider her a loyal and steadfast comrade, never flinching in an insatiable search for answers in the laboratory and in the field. Helen is naturally skeptical and prefers proven facts to speculation and theory. Her tendency to continue searching for answers long after her peers have given up has earned her the nickname of "Bulldog", an honorific she chooses to ignore.
Having developed several published histopathological methods has earned Helen the respect of her scientific peers. She often turns down invitations to give seminars and guest lectures, preferring instead the pursuit of wild trout on the South Fork of the Shenandoah.
